Whats a good digital camera?

Im looking to purchase a digital camera in the next week or so but im not sure what im looking for. Are there any specific brands that i should stay away from? I was thinking about getting either a Nikon or a Canon. Maybe even an HP. I also plan on printing my own pictures because i have a photo printer. Does it matter whether i get a 7 mega pixel instead of a 10 mega pixel? Do i need to buy a memory card and if so how many GB??

I would go for the Cannon or another name brand that has been in the camera field for many years. Not the HP. Even the Kodak digitals are very good. You don’t need allot of mega pixels unless you plan on printing large pictures. 5 or 6 mega pixes are more than enough for up to 5X7’s. Really though, you can’t print your own prints cheaper than you can get them done at CVS or Walgreens. I tried printing my own for several years and it is fun and all, but for quality and cost, you can’t beat Kodak Picture Perfect developing. As for a memory card, it depends on if one comes with the camera or not. If you plan on taking lots of pictures, get at least a 1 GB. Hope this helped. Good luck.
There are many good cameras out there. Certainly, Canons and Sony’s are top brands- but you do pay extra for the name. Also consider Fuji and Panasonics.
You need to decide what kind of camera you’d like. They seem to come in 3 or 4 varieties these days (with some overlap)
Compact Cameras: (Consider the Canon SD700IS, Fuji F20/F30/F31fd, or the Panasonic FX01)
Mid Sized (like the Canon A710IS)
UltraZoom models: Panasonic FZ50, FZ7, Fuji S6500, Sony H2/H6, Canon S3IS
Digital SLRs. Excellent products from Nikon and Canon are the tops, with excellent products also from Pentax and Sony (formerly Minolta).

You might be able to find it cheaper somewhere else on-line. They have it at Circuit City but it costs way more.
